It was in 1931 that Rudolf Fuchs founded the company in Mannheim. Its purpose? To import and distribute high-quality refined products from Pennsylvania. They started a regional trade in motor oil.
From 1936 they started their own production and also then opened the first representation office in Munich. Due to WW II there was an import stop for the oil from Pennsylvania. The company lost their traditional oil suppliers. They moved to the industrial port of Mannheim.
In 1948 Fuchs oil was used for the first time on German racetracks. With the death in 1959 of the brand's founder, Manfred Fuchs took over the management of the company in 1960. The Fuchs brand continued to expand internationally. Subsidiaries were set up in Spain and France.
Between 1972 and 19991 the company became a corporate group. Strong expansion took place through acquisitions and mergers during this period.
In 2015, Fuchs generated sales of EUR 2 billion for the first time. Fuchs has now been in existence for more than 80 years, the company still focuses on the trade in lubricants and continues to grow in this area through innovation and research.
