Description
Tectyl 846-K-19 (802284), premium solvent based corrosion preventive compound.
Tectyl 846-K-19 is a solvent cutback, wax based, general purpose, corrosion preventive compound.
Tectyl 846-K-19 is excellent for long term protection of metallic surfaces against corrosion in indoor and outdoor exposure during domestic and international shipments.
Tectyl 846-K-19 is recommended for protection of general machinery, machine rolls/tools, automatic parts, dies, tubing, and spare parts.
Tectyl 846-K-19 cures to a dark amber colored, waxy, translucent, firm film.
Features And Benefits
- Superior Protection : At the recommended DFT, Tectyl 846-K-19 will protect against corrosion during storage, domestic and overseas transport.
- Processing : Tectyl 846-K-19 is easy to apply and easy to remove, when no longer needed.
- Economical : With a DFT of only 50 microns, Tectyl 846-K-19 can protect a large surface with just a little amount of the product.
Usage Advice
- Surface preparation
The maximum performance of Tectyl 846-K-19 can be achieved only when the metal surfaces to be protected are clean, dry and free of rust, oil and mill scale. They recommend a substrate temperature of 10-35 °C at the time of product application. - Application
Tectyl 846-K-19 is formulated to be used as supplied. They recommend that the ambient and product temperature be 10-35 °C at the time of product application. Tectyl 846-K-19 can be applied by airless spray, low pressure air spray or brush. Details on application can be found in the application chart. Due to its composition Tectyl 846-K-19 can be subject to postproduction viscosity changes and/or wax sedimentation. Ensure homogeneous consistency by agitation before use. If the product thickens due to cold storage or loss of solvent during use, thinning with Valvoline 150 is possible to get the desired consistency. Incorrect thinning will affect film build, dry time and product performance. - Removal
Tectyl 846-K-19 and spray equipment can in the wet phase be removed with Tectyl Biocleaner or Valvoline 150 or low-pressure steam. If dried and cured the film of Tectyl 846-K-19 can also be removed with Tectyl Biocleaner or Valvoline 150.
